Spring Has Sprung

For the most part (insert New England weather disclaimer here) the cold months of winter are
behind us and warmer days are here again. Rejoice and be glad! With the more temperate
weather and extra hour of daylight, many of us are ready to come out of hibernation and start
spending more time outside. That’s good for us physically, really good for us mentally, and
great for our beloved pets. The big question becomes, what cannabis do I pair with my warm
weather outdoor activities? At Himalayan High, we’ve been in that situation and we can help
you out with some advice and useful tips.

First of all, consider the sensibility of what you’re trying to consume. As satisfying as dabs of
concentrates cooking on torch-fired glass rigs can be, they aren’t practical in the outdoors.
You don’t want to carry around your Elwood Blues-looking briefcase full of fragile
paraphernalia on a hike or take it out on the boat because that isn’t convenient. Worse yet,
something could happen to it in that natural, chaotic environment. If you’re having a backyard
barbecue, sure; break out the dab rig or the bong and keep it someplace safe. Likewise,
having a jarred eighth of flower in your pocket that needs to be ground up and either stuffed
into a bowl or rolled up in papers isn’t the most practical way to get your smoke when you’re
out and about, either. Too many things to handle, too many tasks to perform, maybe even in
windy or wet conditions. We have better ideas for you.

Edibles are a wonderful, lung-friendly way to enhance your sunny weather experience without
the inconvenience of carrying around paraphernalia, or necessitating perfect environmental
conditions to light your fire. We have a wide selection of gummies, chocolates, tinctures,
belts, and drinks to help get you where you want to be mentally while you physically explore
the natural world around you. We have some delicious and effective gummies from Kanha
that will elevate your hike or boat trip. Their Cherry Limeade belts and Citrus Splash Energy
gummies have a sweetness and tangy flavor with sativa terpenes that will bring some bounce
to your step. The Citrus Splash gummies also have an additional dose of THCv that will boost
your metablism and support you through the last stages of your day’s adventure. At 100mg
per bag, there’s plenty of cannabinoids for your own multi-hour hike along the Appalachian
Trail, or for sharing with your friends on the boat. Each bag fits nicely in a jacket or vest
pocket and can be consumed discreetly without waste, smoke, smell, or the need for calm
winds.

If you already have your un-infused cuisine for the afternoon chosen, maybe some THC
beverages to accompany those grilled burgers and sausages. We have soda-style soft drinks
from Keef, infused seltzers from Levia, and drink elixirs from Squiers. Pack your Cooler
cooler with non-alcoholic beverages like High Octane energy, Orange Kush, or Mister Puffer
sodas from Keef. Each 12oz can contains 5mg of THC and is made with real cane sugar. If
you want something a little less sweet, we have 4 different varieties of infused seltzer from
Levia that will still deliver your potent cannabis kick albeit with a healthier ingredient list.
Perfect for taking on the pontoon boat, packing for a picnic, or taking on a bike ride. If you’re
operating the vehicle – bikes or boats – please consume responsibly. The last and most
versatile option is the concentrated drink elixirs from Squiers. Available in sativa, hybrid and
sleep formulations, this little bottle of beauty can be added to anything you’re already drinking.
Add some subtle flavor and a teaspoon of entertainment to your morning tea, bottle of
lemonade, a mocktail, or a pitcher of Iced Tea. Pour in a little bit at a time to microdose
throughout the day, or take mini shots of it for stronger, more potent doses.

Lastly, and my personal favorite, are pre-rolls. Whether you’re going to an outdoor concert at
a local venue or hitting the state forest for a few hours in the woods with the dogs, they are
practical and convenient. Depending on your plans, maybe a single infused Mango Super
Silver Haze pre-roll from Pioneer Valley Extracts will get you in the mood. These are flavorful
and potent and slow-burning, so they’re perfect for sharing with your friends along the trail or
on the concert lawn. If you’re heading out fishing, kayaking, canoeing or anything else with
friends that might not be within arms reach, perhaps a multi-pack of smaller pre-rolls might do
the trick. Coughy Cake and Earthbender from Mass Alternative Care are both euphoric,
energizing sativas that come in 5-packs of half gram dog walkers. Everybody gets their own
joint so there’s no need to go through the often awkward and inconvenient dance of trying to
pass a joint around when your hands are dirty, wet, or you’re simply not near the rest of your
party. For me personally, nothing beats a good old fashioned spliff; 1 gram, un-infused,
simple, classic, nothing complicated. I usually bring a couple with me for my (longer) dog
walks. Light it once and enjoy it for 15-20 minutes as you stroll among the trees and streams
of the Berkshires with virtually nothing to dispose of afterward. I like a tasty sativa like Fresh
Connection’s Lemon Cane to start the journey and set my pace, and a more relaxing indica
like SpeakEazy’s Raven Revenge on the way back to the trailhead, prepping my body and
mind for the post-hike wind-down.

Not all cannabis is created equal, and not all methods of ingestion make sense in every
situation. Think about how your want to consume your cannabis outdoors before you get
there, now that being outdoors is more comfortable and welcoming. Bringing a ¼ oz of bud, a
grinder, and blunt wraps to a concert invites problems, both entering the venue and preparing
your session. Likewise, bringing a glass bong out on the boat for an afternoon on the lake
might not be the smartest idea either. Think ahead, plan accordingly, then come shop with us
at Himalayan High. We can guide you on your cannabis journey whether it’s on land, water,
or in the air. Happy Spring!
